Intro to working with Relational Databases in the Cloud

10:00 AM–12:00 PM Apr 7, 2019

CC 2ND FL 206A

Description

Session ID: 589

Abstract:

Get hands-on with the Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS), a managed cloud database platform from Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS engineers will guide you through setting up, configuring and accessing relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL). They'll discuss what makes RDS unique and how it helps database administrators stop worrying about infrastructure, allowing them to focus on high-value database tasks like tuning and schema design. No prior cloud experience necessary (beneficial to create an AWS account beforehand). Walk away with a deeper understanding of running relational databases in the cloud, and confidence in your ability to quickly provision databases for scalability, high availability and reliability.

Objective 1: Learn about Amazon RDS and what it means to work with managed databases.

Objective 2: Learn how to navigate the AWS console to manage cloud resources.

Objective 3: Get hands-on experience creating, backing up, restoring, and scaling relational databases using Amazon RDS.

Audience: Introductory
