Abstract: The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place. George Bernard Shaw. With the need to target specific audiences with pertinent; and often time critical information; the University of Colorado's University Information Services Portal Team decided to leverage PeopleSoft's delivered Events & Notifications (PS E&N). With more disparate systems such as Finance (FIN) and Human Capital Management (HCM) having functionality corralled with Peoplesoft Interaction Hub (PIH; aka Portal); a need for these systems to notify Portal users with work related messaging was needed. PS E&N provided a communication solution that not only met the functional requirement; but as delivered PS functionality had the inherent advantages of integration; compatibility and support.
