Get hands-on and learn the features of the Python cx_Oracle interface for Oracle Database.  Learn efficient techniques for connection management and statement handling and more.  If you want to use Python and Oracle Database, this session is for you.  Basic programming skills in any language are required.

Please bring a laptop that is able to connect to the internet and has the following required software already installed.

  1. Python (3.6 preferred but 2.7 should work)
  2. cx_Oracle (6.2.1 preferred any 6.x should work) & Oracle Instant Client Package - Basic (12.2 preferred 12.1 should work)
  3. Oracle Instant Client Package - SQL*Plus OR Oracle SQLcl

Objective 1: Learn how Python (the extremely popular, general purpose dynamic scripting language) can be used to build applications for Oracle Database.

Objective 2: Learn efficient data access techniques, and see how Python objects can map directly to SQL objects.

Objective 3: Learn how to use Python with Oracle Database features such as Advanced Queuing.
