Join this session to learn about Oracle Database 12c storage optimization features, including Oracle Intelligent Storage Protocol (OISP), available only with Oracle Storage. OISP makes the storage layer database-aware and results in better database performance, better throughput for RMAN backups, and reduced latency for IO sensitive workloads.
Traditionally DBAs and storage administrators had to spend valuable time manually configuring separate storage shares to optimize performance for different workloads. With OISP, manual tuning is minimized since OISP's tuning on the fly automatically maximizes performance at the IO level. Additionally an enhanced analytics capability built into OISP is now available that enables storage administrators and DBAs to dig deeper into underlying storage performance issues and tie them directly to individual databases. This feature will save hours of troubleshooting, especially on Oracle Database 12c with multitenant functionality, by providing highly granular visibility at the pluggable database level. Finally, OISP is built on top of Oracle's dNFS protocol which provides Fibre Channel level performance on NAS storage with massively parallel IO paths between database and storage.
