Abstract:

Every DBA is very familiar with the Oracle database LISTENER process tnslnr that is required to be running to allow remote connections to the database.  Over the years there has been a number of enhancements, and changes to the process of how a connection is created, but it all starts with the LISTENER process and a network request.
